About the 2016 Conference

This year we aim to give construction lawyers a better understanding of how to overcome real-world challenges by providing context and insight from in-house speakers working on current major projects. We will continue to address developments in the law with updates from recognised private practice experts in construction law.

Key Themes (subject to change):

  • The Anatomy of a successful project
  • Case law digest: Recent developments in construction law and lesson learned from trends
  • TCC and Litigation update
  • JVs, Partnering, and supply chains: Choosing suppliers, contractors, and advisors – what to look for and when to walk away
  • Corporate governance: Sustainability issues – ethical sourcing, both of products and people, and Modern Day Slavery
  • How to handle disputes, what are your options, and what to do if you are still not satisfied
  • Mock Adjudication
  • Developments from the TCC, guidance from the bench, and helping the judges of the TCC

Suggested breakout options include:

  • Understanding your NEC contract
  • EU procurement challenges in the courts
  • Digital Construction update: BIM, 3D printing and Laser scanning
  • PFI projects: Unforeseen legacy challenges, good faith, and investigations
